Raquel Buela
focused her work on tango, a genre that allowed her to appear successfully in a great number of venues in our country and to publish her first recording in 2006.
She has appeared in several talent contests and festivals, and she has also been awarded. She was finalist at the Certamen Hugo del Carril (1998) and was among the top ranked at the Concurso de Tango organized by the Centro Cultural del Tango (1999) and Concurso de Cantores de Tango Río de la Plata (2000)(River Plate Talent contest for tango singers), among others.
In 2003 she was member of the cast that staged “Los siete pecados capitales”, a profane cantata for voices and bandoneon written by
Luis Alposta
and Pascual “Cholo” Mamone. Together with the authors and the singer Andrés Bordoni, she premiered it at the Centro Cultural de la Cooperación. The performances continued at the San Martín salon of the Legislature of the city of Buenos Aires, the Historic Museum of Buenos Aires “Cornelio de Saavedra”, the Café Recuerdo - corner
Osvaldo Pugliese
and the Academia Porteña del Lunfardo, among other prestigious venues.
In the late 2004 she began a cycle of recitals named “Yo soy de aquí”, along with the musicians Osvaldo Burucuá and
Orlando Trujillo
performing a personal selection of tangos by classic and contemporary songwriters. From that her first recorded release was born which was published by the Fonocal label in 2006.
She appeared in musical comedies, among which the following stand out: “Drácula”, written by Pepe Cibrián Campoy and Ángel Mahler; Daniel Ruiz’s “La calle de las cosas perdidas”, directed by Mario Camerano with music by Horacio Corral; and “El barrio del Ángel Gris”, based on texts written by
Alejandro Dolina
, under the direction of Lito Cruz and music by José Luis Castiñeira de Dios.
