his orchestra was born after the idea of its leader Mariano Speranza, inspired in the respectful and passionate research of the great classic tango orchestras, but aiming at presenting new compositions and original arrangements.
In 2010, with a number by Mariano, “Milonga Schupi”, Tango Spleen won a national contest in Italy “Suoni Senza Confini” which was sponsored by the Pubblicità Progresso Foundation.
Today, it is one of the aggregations with most frequent performances in Europe that regularly appears in Italy and makes tours worldwide.
Its success was outstanding in Argentina at the Tango Festival of La Falda in 2011 and with similar acclaim they appeared in other venues and international festivals in Norway, South Korea, Germany, Slovenia and France.
In 2013 they were chosen by the Argentine Embassy to Italy to pay homage and play in a celebration for the appointment of Pope Francisco at the Piazza del Popolo in Rome.
Among its most recent appearances in 2012 and 2013 we can mention: Tarbes en Tango, Bordeaux Cité Tango Festival, Aix-en-Provence Tango Festival, Very Nice Tango Festival, Todi Tango Festival Encuentro Tanguero in Cuneo, Festival International de Tango Argentin of Monte-Carlo, Padova Tango Festival, L’Aquila Tango Festival.
Its leader tells us about the spirit of the group: «At the venues where we appear, whether there is a theater, a square or a milonga (dancehall), we keep with us the passion for our work and for our music; specially the wish of sharing with the audience the emotions and the deepest substance of the tango musical culture that goes on conquering the world with its capacity of making vibrate the most intimate strings of the human being».
It has been protagonist of the Festival Latinoamericano Expo 2012 in Milano; of “Los Conciertos en el Parco” in the Villa Pamphilj of Rome; of the edition 2012 and 2013 of the Valtidone Festival; of the show for the Bicentenario Argentino at the Auditorium Paganini in Parma; of “Tango sobre las ondas de la memoria” in Udine; “Bajo las estrellas de Galla Placidia” in Ravenna; “Vuelvo al Sur” at the Museum Ala Ponzone in Cremona; “Esto es Tango” at the Teatro No'hma in Milano.
In 2011 they made two important tours, the first one: visiting the main cities of South Korea under the auspices of the Argentine Embassy to Seoul; the second: as guest orchestra at the XVIII Festival Nacional de Tango of La Falda (Argentina) that, for the first time, included an Italian orchestra to share the bill with renowned tango artists. They also appeared in Buenos Aires and in the province of Córdoba.
The orchestra recorded two compact discs entitled: “Mariano Speranza Tango Spleen” (2010) and “Típico” for the label Abeat Records (2011).
