e was born and grew up in Buenos Aires, where he graduated as electrical engineer. In 1968 he moved to the United States; but only in the 90’s he was conquered by tango.

Then music and love would start to get a tingle in his heart. He formed an inseparable couple in tango and in life with Valorie Hart and along with her he would become a professional dancer.

Little by little, Alberto Paz increased his passion, not only for dancing, but also for teaching. He opened the doors of his house to several maestros milongueros; he appeared at festivals in his country of adoption and gave classes in several American and European cities.

He created and was the choreographer of the musical ‘Live from the Tango Belt’ and the play ‘Red Hot Tango’, based on the history of the tango social dance. He published the magazine El Firulete and was author of ‘Gotta Tango’, an instructive book with a DVD, which data can be found on the website of his own: planet-tango.com.

Like all tango men, Alberto was a passionate fellow, and in 2009 –always together with Valorie– won the American championship of tango salón.

He was, in sum, a generous dancer, a man that went deep in the art of improvisation; but, above all, he was a broadcaster of tango dance who made of teaching his best engineering.

The author is instructor, dancer and researcher of tango dance. He is author of the Nuevo glosario de tango danza, La pista del abrazo and Tango FAQs. www.tangosalon.com.ar / info@tangosalon.com.ar
