panish pianist and composer. From Madrid and for this work he said the following: «I was acquainted with the unforgettable Gardel at the Romea Theater of this capital in 1926 and was such the revolution he made with his songs and exquisite art that I one day I went to the theater to meet him and hear his songs. In fact, he was phenomenal.

«As I liked him very much I made an appointment with the author Pérez Moris at my house and told him that I wanted to write some tangos and present them to the singer so that he would choose the ones he liked most.

«We called on him at the Romea and he greeted us very kindly (because he was kind) and he made an appointment to hear them. Out of the four numbers he chose the tango “Dolor [b]”, certainly, was a boom in his voice. He did not record any other of mine because of the many engagements he had. We, the authors, preyed on him».

As a good Spaniard that he was, his music pieces tell us about his land, but he also wrote some tangos.

Diez Cepeda was born in Madrid on December 26, 1896.
