t a very early age she started as singer of popular songs under the sobriquet Noemí Marcela. Her debut took place on November 20, 1979 at the premises of the Chacarita Juniors club. Her manager was the former reciter in the
Osvaldo Pugliese
Orchestra, El Negro Mela.
She studied music, she graduated as guitar teacher and studied singing with important instructors: Rubén de Alvarado, Horacio Soutric, and
Dante Gilardoni
was her advisor as for repertory.
She also sang folk songs which gave her the chance to appear at the main television channels and radio stations in Argentina.
Between 1988 and 1991 she appeared frequently at the TV program
Grandes valores del tango
. At the same time she was vocalist of the orchestra led by maestro
José Colángelo
and appeared at the important tango venue, El Viejo Almacén, along with figures like
Ernesto Baffa
and
Roberto Achával
. Around 1992 she performed at coteries and tango locals such as El Rincón de los Artistas, Castello Vechio and Vos Tango, among other venues.
After she split with the orchestra she started a tour of several countries of South and Central America and later of Spain, Portugal and France under her new sobriquet:
Marcela Ríos
.
In 1995 she was awarded the «Estrella de Mar» by the city of Mar del Plata, along with the great comic Juan Verdaguer and the singer
Jorge Sobral
for the best music show.
She was invited to join the show
Forever Tango
to perform in the United States. She appeared in San Francisco along again with
Jorge Sobral
and the team of dancers Mayoral and Elsa María, among others.
She as well tried in the opera field, with her soprano range, in leading roles on many plays of the universal operatic repertoire. In 1999 she appeared at the premiere of the opera
Evita
at the Teatro Astral.
In 2002 she returned to tango and appeared at several venues and was summoned by maestro
Atilio Stampone
to perform at the Teatro Nacional Cervantes with the musical accompaniment of the Orquesta Nacional de Música Argentina «Juan de Dios Filiberto».
She appeared at the show staged at the local La Esquina de
Homero Manzi
